what standard to certify against

what standard?

If you are seeking quality management system certification within Australia, indeed, in the world, there is only one standard - ISO 9001:2008.  There are local derivatives, for example in Australia it is called AS NZS 9001, in the UK it's BS 9001, etc but these are identical to each other and the ISO version in all aspects other than name.

In the past there were 3 versions for 'grades' of management system but there has only been one since 2000.There are industry standards, that some industry associations or industry sectors may impose on the market but these are not generally internationally recognised and cannot be certified against.  For example, ISO 16949.

Please be aware that ISO 9001 has recently been reviewed and re-published but that's another newsletter.
