satellite communication - design and support
This importer / wholesaler of satellite communication consumables retained quality.com.au to design and implement a very simple, intranet based quality management system within 3 months.  Certified on their first attempt, they have retained our services to provide ongoing support.

One of the challenges for this dynamic company was to simplify a large volume of documentation and minimise 'drift' between work practices and avaiable procedures.  This is being acheived with minimal impact on process flow.  The next step is the training of a number of internal auditors to ensure internal resources bring about continuous improvement.

construction management - design and support
A medium sized construction management firm is expanding into the design and construction.  Our services were retained to design, develop, implement and support a quality management system, whilst working with two other consulting firms who were concurrently developing systems in OHS and environment.

One of the requirements was to recognise and utilise the excellent set of operational documentation and to ensure a similar 'look and feel' for the final system.  We were able to deliver their brief within 3 short months and acheived certification on the first attempt.  The quality management system now underpins the other risk management systems which are due for certification over the next 2 months.

micro business - design and support
This micro sized business has the potential to turn into a very large exporter with an incredible niche within water metering and online monitoring / reading of meters.  The design and implementation of a simple quality management system was conducted over a 9 month period (half a day a month) culminating in a successful certification audit on their first attempt with very few adverse findings or observations.  "The process was painless" said the owner / director who has retained our services on a half a day per quarter basis to ensure the system remains relevant and can handle the potential in projected growth.

traffic control - design and support
This market sector is highly competitive and every edge you can get on your competitors the better.  This small (soon to be medium) sized company asked Oberon for a design and support solution with a quality management system.  We were able to complete the design within 3 months, with a successful certification result on the first attempt.  The good news with this case study is that the volume of work conducted by the client before we started, meant that we were able to pass on a significant reduction in consulting days.  Well done.  We now manage their quality system with only half a day month ensuring that the system remains relevant to their goals and needs.

growing offshore geotechnical - design and support
From the beginning, this then university based, highly technological, underwater geotechnical service provider has had a vision for global growth.  They had a need to manage this significant growth in both market and personnel with the help of a certified quality management system.  Oberon was retained to design and develop the core procedures and to mentor and coach the nominated management representative through the process of achieving certification.  This was achieved within a short 4 month lead time on their first attempt.  Oberon has now been retained to provide ongoing support through internal auditing, corrective action management and management reviews.

education - project management
A large regional university is preemptively designing and implementing a quality assurance management system within their facilities management division with Oberon providing the guidance and project management.  In this role we have reviewed structures, intent, models, project planning, recommended documentation strategies and provided internal quality auditor training.  Once complete, they will be well placed to meet the rigours of any third party audit.

never too small - design and support
A small importer / wholesaler of consumables to the concrete pumping industry.  Oberon designed and implemented a very simple, paper based quality management system within 3 months.  Certified on their first attempt, they have retained our services for over 5 years.  As the system gets even more simpler (and still paper based) our time has been reduced to ensure this very adaptive company get the desired deliverables at the desired investment.

nice and neat - design and support
A medium sized IT hardware company with some 45 employees.  As per usual, the quality management system of this small/medium sized company was designed and being maintained by a person from within the finance department (of 2).  The system was based on the 1994 version of standard and during the design phase this company was 'helped' by a consultant.  Well, the quality coordinator / accountant was to go on maternity leave and since a great deal of their turn over was dependent on government contracts and certification of their quality system, they decided to outsource the system to quality.com.au.  The brief for this assignment was to upgrade the system to the 2000 version of the standard BUT we were asked to leave what could be left alone, alone.  This we did and upon her return from maternity leave after 6 months she was able to take up the maintenance of the system with ease.  This company now subscribes to our e-mail service and rings us from time to time to check on finer points, all of which we provide without charge as they still considered a client even though our last face to face meeting was over 5 years ago.

the long and short of it - a comparison
A very large government utility - This client is BIG. And when they need to expand their management systems into additional divisions and / or through new strategic directions, they retain us as the technical expertise to get the job done on budget, on time. Without impacting on their head count or exhausting their already strained internal resources, Oberon was / is ably to accurately scope the project parameters and deliver the desired fixed price solution.  One of the key features of this service was / is to be part of a team operating in a highly political environment and still getting the job done.

A very small consultancy - A two man show with big expectations for growth and sustainability. The challenge was to put in place a quality management system that did not hinder either. This is what quality.com.au does best. After all, Oberon was that size when we first achieved certification. Adopting their processes and fitting the standard around them enabled a very quick lead time with minimal costs. Once again, a successful certification on their first attempt.

large multinational - restructure and support
A leading global provider of industrial automation, facilities automation, real-time intelligence, & next generation manufacturing execution systems (MES).  This company has been providing global business solutions, engineering services and software to the automation market for over 30 years. Specialising in the delivery of innovative, reliable and cost effective solutions, connecting people in business and industry to real-time information in ways that improve business strategies and decisions.  quality.com.au were retained to restructure, implement and support an existing, certified quality management system within the professional services division.  The challenge was to make the system relevant to their business needs, model the processes on the NSW methodologies and roll the system out nationally.  This is 'NOT a system for the sake of ticks'.  The transition to an outsourced solution for the management of their quality system is complete and the resultant system getting a 'passed with flying colours' during their last surveillance audit.  The roll out continues as does the ongoing support.

graffiti removal business - design and support

In a market dominated by 'one man band' service providers and the customer base predominantly local councils and large facility management firms, our client needed a point of difference for their marketing and sales.  With the processes already in place, it was time for market recognition of the great job they provide.  quality.com.au were retained to design, implement and support a combined environmental and quality management system.  The challenges of this mostly electronic system was to ensure that the fleet of trucks and utes were equipped with the documentation they needed to conduct their jobs contractually and within environmental expectations.  They have now been certified to both ISO 9001 and 14001, achieved on their first attempt.  The next step is to roll their OHS processes into a total risk management system which should be finalised very shortly.

independent quarry - design and support

Our client is one of the few independent quarries within NSW, taking it to the larger corporate and multinationals.  With an impeccable safety record and well structured processes for basalt extraction in an open cut site, they thought it was time to test their processes via the certification of their quality system.  quality.com.au were retained to design, implement and support the resultant quality management system.  Due to the nature of their operations, the system is predominantly hard copy.  What was a pleasant surprise to the owners was the small volume of documentation that was needed.  The quarry was certified to ISO 9001 on their first attempt with Global-Mark.  In a price sensitive market, such recognition will provide a very good selling point differentiation which will help with expansion plans.
